Samuelle Leerkamp & Malacrianza
(Emily Farmers, Keepsake Stables)
had their very first show experience together at WEC, Ohio!
We almost had to cancel going the show having just survived a terrible car crash back in Belgium but we how can we preach "getting back on the horse" if we don't live by example...
GREAT learning experience!

+ 1m Reserve Champion with a 1st place 🥇 a second place 🥈 and not being allowed in the ring for the final class (not knowing you can only enter 1 classic final at a split rock tour. We would have dropped out of the 1m10 classic if we had known...That stung. Lesson learned.)

A show just for the fun of it!
They made it to a 5’3” applejack jump (that’s my height!) 4’ deep spread (that’s four rows deep of me!) and ended up second 🥈 while Havoc lost a shoe there somewhere in the mix. #applejack #goodtimes

After a stellar 2023 Show Season with Idol of Kings, Samuelle started training in January 2024 with her new horse Havoc (Malacrianza,) an off the track rescue whom didn't have much jumping show ground experience yet. They have been working intensively on his control buttons for the jumper ring but also on desensitizing his "spooking" ways and manners on the ground, which unintentionally can be dangerous. Our favorite "spook story" of the season so far is at their very first show together, at WEC, when Havoc spooked at his own fart walking through the isles making him jump into the air and two feet out landing on Alan's foot! LOL! (Thankfully resulting in no more then a soar/bruised foot!) We couldn't be happier with their growth in becoming a strong and competitive team!
Currently placing (11/6/24):
- 🥇 1st place in 1.10m Junior Jumpers division
- 🥈 2nd place in the 1m Junior Jumpers division
in USHJA Zone 5 (including Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois & Indiana)
>> qualifying for the 2024 USHJA Las Vegas Nationals, in the rated division!
Note: Samuelle & Havoc competed into 8 rated shows this year - ranking top three in their divisions (1m & 1.10m) in Zone 5, ranked against her competition whom attended about twice as many shows in the season; which is a compelling part of the statistics for sure...
It is definitely all about finding the right balance for Samuelle between her pledge to keeping up with her school/education and her passion... And she is doing a stellar job at it so far!
